Israel has fought more wars in its 78-year history than most countries have since the Second World War. Despite its small size and population of 9 million, it maintains one of the world’s most advanced air forces. Since its creation through conflict in 1948, Israel has waged more than a dozen wars—primarily against Palestinians it occupies, but also against Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Iran. Recent conflicts have displaced nearly 6 million Palestinians, Lebanese and Iranians in just two and a half years.
