Qatar-Ukraine defence agreement: Deal includes missile & drone defence co-operation
Videobeschreibung:
Ukraine and Qatar have signed a defence co-operation agreement during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Doha. He met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The agreement includes sharing expertise in countering missiles and unmanned aerial systems. Ukraine has built experience in stopping Iranian-designed drones, which have been used to target infrastructure across the region. Russia has been using those drones in its attacks on Ukraine. Zelenskyy’s visit is part of a Gulf tour, that’s also seen Ukraine sign a security agreement with Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Defence Ministry says Iran launched numerous drones at Qatari territory today, but that all were “successfully intercepted and neutralised”.
Al Jazeera’s Dmitry Medvedenko reports from Doha.
