Why the Iran war is causing a fuel crisis across Africa: Explainer
Videobeschreibung:
The Iran war has triggered a severe economic crisis across Africa, with most nations facing an unprecedented energy emergency due to disrupted sea traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Nigeria has seen the steepest fuel price rise at around 65 percent, whilst Ethiopia has begun rationing petrol as daily diesel supply has almost halved.
Mauritius has declared energy-saving measures with only 15–20 days of stock remaining, and the near closure of the strait has halted one-third of global fertiliser trade, threatening agricultural yields in Kenya and Tanzania.
